Desire for Reunion (Punarchchividhumpal, புணர்ச்சி விதும்பல்) is chapter 129 of the Thirukkural, in the Post-marital love section of Kaamaththuppaal (காமத்துப்பால், Love). It holds kurals 1281 to 1290.

Kural 1281

உள்ளக் களித்தலும் காண மகிழ்தலும்
கள்ளுக்கில் காமத்திற் குண்டு.

Ullak Kaliththalum Kaana Makizhdhalum
Kallukkil Kaamaththir Kuntu

Meaning
Feeling elated just by thinking, and delighted just by seeing, is not something wine can give; only love can. Wine must be drunk, but love intoxicates through thought and sight alone.
Classic translations
Meaning (W.H. Drew & John Lazarus)
To please by thought and cheer by sight is peculiar, not to liquor but lust.
Translation (G.U. Pope)
Gladness at the thought, rejoicing at the sight, Not palm-tree wine, but love, yields such delight.

Kural 1282

தினைத்துணையும் ஊடாமை வேண்டும் பனைத்துணையும்
காமம் நிறைய வரின்.

Thinaiththunaiyum Ootaamai Ventum Panaith
Thunaiyum Kaamam Niraiya Varin

Meaning
When love fills the heart as large as a palmyra tree, one should not sulk even as little as a millet grain. Great love leaves no room for even the smallest quarrel.
Classic translations
Meaning (W.H. Drew & John Lazarus)
If women have a lust that exceeds even the measure of the palmyra fruit, they will not desire (to feign) dislike even as much as the millet.
Translation (G.U. Pope)
When as palmyra tall, fulness of perfect love we gain, Distrust can find no place small as the millet grain.

Though my eyes disregard me and do what is pleasing to my husband, still will they not be satisfied unless they see him.

Ootarkan Sendrenman Thozhi Adhumarandhu
Kootarkan Sendradhu En Nenju

Meaning
My friend, I went to him meaning to sulk, but my heart forgot all about it and rushed to embrace him instead.
Classic translations

My heart, forgetting all, could not its love restrain.

Meaning
Just as the eye cannot see the stick that applies kohl to it, I cannot see my husband's faults when I am face to face with him.
Explanation in Tamil
கண்ணுக்கு மை தீட்டும்போது, மிக அருகில் வரும் மைதீட்டும் கோலைக் கண் பார்ப்பதில்லை. அதுபோலவே, கணவரை நேரில் காணும்போது அவருடைய குற்றங்கள் என் கண்ணுக்குத் தெரிவதில்லை என்கிறாள் தலைவி. அன்பு மிகுந்த நெருக்கத்தில் குறைகள் மறைந்துவிடுகின்றன.
Classic translations
Meaning (W.H. Drew & John Lazarus)
Like the eyes which see not the pencil that paints it, I cannot see my husband's fault (just) when I meet him.
Translation (G.U. Pope)
The eye sees not the rod that paints it; nor can ISee any fault, when I behold my husband nigh.

Kural 1286

காணுங்கால் காணேன் தவறாய காணாக்கால்
காணேன் தவறல் லவை.

Kaanungaal Kaanen Thavaraaya Kaanaakkaal
Kaanen Thavaral Lavai

When I see him, I notice none of his faults; when I don't see him, I notice nothing but his faults.
Classic translations
Meaning (W.H. Drew & John Lazarus)
When I see my husband, I do not see any faults; but when I do not see him, I do not see anything but faults.

When him I see, to all his faults I 'm blind; But when I see him not, nothing but faults I find.

Kural 1287

பொய்த்தல் அறிந்தென் புலந்து.

Uyththal Arindhu Punalpaai Pavarepol
Poiththal Arindhen Pulandhu

Meaning
Like people who leap into a flood knowing it will sweep them away, why should I sulk when I know my anger will collapse the moment I see him?
Classic translations
Meaning (W.H. Drew & John Lazarus)
Like those who leap into a stream which they know will carry them off, why should a wife feign dislike which she knows cannot hold out long?.
