- நேற்று என்னைக் கொன்றுவிடுவது போல வாட்டிய வறுமை, இன்றும் என்னைத் தேடி வருமோ என்று ஏழை அஞ்சுகிறான். ‘நிரப்பு’ என்பது வறுமையைக் குறிக்கும் சொல். ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் வறுமையின் துயரத்தை எண்ணி நடுங்கும் ஏழையின் மனநிலையை இக்குறள் உருக்கமாக எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறது.
