Kural 11
Vaannindru Ulakam Vazhangi Varudhalaal
Thaanamizhdham Endrunarar Paatru
- Meaning
- Because the rain keeps falling, the world goes on living. That is why rain deserves to be thought of as the nectar of life itself.
Classic translations
- Meaning (W.H. Drew & John Lazarus)
- By the continuance of rain the world is preserved in existence; it is therefore worthy to be called ambrosia.
- Translation (G.U. Pope)
- The world its course maintains through life that rain unfailing gives; Thus rain is known the true ambrosial food of all that lives.
