காமக் கடல்மன்னும் உண்டே அதுநீந்தும்

- காதல் என்னும் கடல் என் முன்னே பரந்து கிடக்கிறது என்பது உண்மைதான்; ஆனால் அதைக் கடந்து கரை சேர உதவும் பாதுகாப்பான தெப்பம் எதுவும் என்னிடம் இல்லை என்று தலைவி வருந்துகிறாள். 'புணை' என்பது நீரைக் கடக்க உதவும் மிதவை; 'ஏமம்' என்பது காவல். துணையாக இருக்க வேண்டிய கணவன் அருகில் இல்லாததால், இந்தத் துயரைக் கடக்க வழியின்றித் தவிக்கிறாள்.
