- அறிவை மயக்கும் மாலைப் பொழுது பரவி வரும் வேளையில், இந்த ஊர் முழுவதுமே மயங்கித் துயரத்தில் உழலும் என்கிறாள் தலைவி. ‘பதி’ என்பது ஊர்; ‘பைதல்’ என்பது துன்பம். தன்னுடைய துயரம் அவ்வளவு பெரியதாக இருப்பதால், ஊரே தன்னைப் போல வருந்துவதாக அவளுக்குத் தோன்றுகிறது. மிகுந்த துயரத்தில் இருப்பவருக்கு உலகமே துயரில் மூழ்கியதாகத் தெரியும்.
