- பிறன் மனைவியை ஆசையுடன் ஏறெடுத்தும் பார்க்காத மன உறுதியே உண்மையான "பேராண்மை", அதாவது பெரிய ஆண்மை. சான்றோருக்கு அது ஓர் அறம் மட்டுமன்று; நிறைவான நல்லொழுக்கமும் அதுவே. ஆண்மை என்பது பிறரை வெல்வதில் மட்டுமன்று, தன் ஆசையை அடக்கி ஆள்வதிலும் இருக்கிறது என்பதை இக்குறள் உணர்த்துகிறது.
