- நமக்குப் பகைவராக நின்று தீங்கு செய்பவர்களுக்கும் திருப்பித் தீங்கு செய்யாமல் விட்டுவிடுவதே எல்லா அறிவிலும் தலைசிறந்த அறிவு என்று பெரியோர் கூறுவர். 'செறுவார்' என்பது பகைத்துத் துன்புறுத்துபவர். பழிக்குப் பழி வாங்குவது பகையை வளர்க்கும்; பொறுத்துக்கொள்வது அதை முடித்துவைக்கும். அன்றாட வாழ்விலும் கோபத்துக்குக் கோபம் காட்டாமல் அமைதி காப்பதே அறிவுடைமை.
