- Never, even absent-mindedly, plot another person's ruin; if you do, righteousness itself will plot the ruin of the one who plotted.

- மறந்தும்கூடப் பிறருக்குக் கேடு விளைவிக்க எண்ணக்கூடாது. அப்படி ஒருவன் பிறர் அழிவுக்குத் திட்டமிட்டால், அவனுக்கே கேடு வருமாறு அறம் திட்டமிடும். 'சூழ்தல்' என்பது மனத்தில் எண்ணிச் சதி செய்தல். பிறருக்குக் குழி தோண்டுபவன் அதில் தானே விழுவான் என்ற உண்மையையே இக்குறள் நினைவூட்டுகிறது.
