- Living beings survive because flesh is not eaten; but the one who eats flesh is swallowed by hell, which never opens its mouth to let him out again.

- ஊன் உண்ணாமல் இருப்பதால்தான் உயிர்கள் அழியாமல் வாழ்ந்து நிலைபெறுகின்றன. இறைச்சி உண்பவனை "அளறு" என்னும் சேற்றுக்குழி போன்ற நரகம் விழுங்கிக்கொண்டு, மீண்டும் வாய் திறந்து வெளியே விடாது. "அண்ணாத்தல்" என்பது வாயைத் திறத்தல். உயிர்களைக் காப்பதன் பெருமையையும், அவற்றை உணவாக்குவதன் கடுமையான விளைவையும் இங்கு வள்ளுவர் ஒப்பிட்டுக் காட்டுகிறார்.
