- பிறரால் இகழப்படாமல் மதிப்புடன் வாழ விரும்புகிறவன், எந்தப் பொருளையும், அது எவ்வளவு சிறியதாக இருந்தாலும், பிறரிடமிருந்து மறைவாகக் கவர நினைக்காதபடி தன் மனத்தைக் காத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். 'எள்ளாமை' என்பது இகழப்படாத நிலை; 'கள்ளாமை' என்பது திருடாமை. ஒரு சிறிய திருட்டும் ஒருவருடைய நற்பெயரை அழித்துவிடும் என்பதை நினைவில் கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
