- தமக்குக் கிடைத்த உணவைப் பிறருடன் பகிர்ந்து உண்பதும், பலவகை உயிர்களையும் பேணிக் காப்பதும், அறநூல்களை எழுதிய அறிஞர்கள் தொகுத்துச் சொன்ன அறங்கள் அனைத்திலும் முதன்மையானது. 'ஓம்புதல்' என்றால் அன்புடன் காத்தல். பசித்தவருக்கு உணவு கொடுப்பதும், எந்த உயிரும் துன்பப்படாமல் பார்த்துக்கொள்வதும் எல்லா அறங்களுக்கும் மேலானவை என்பது கருத்து.
