- Of all those who renounce the world out of dread of its unstable existence, the greatest is the one who fears the wrong of killing and holds firmly to not killing.

- உலக வாழ்வின் நிலையாமையையும் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் பிறக்கும் துன்பத்தையும் அஞ்சி, பற்றுகளைத் துறந்தவர்கள் பலர் உண்டு. அவர்கள் அனைவரிலும், கொலைக்கு அஞ்சி எந்த உயிரையும் கொல்லாமல் வாழ்வதைக் கடைப்பிடிப்பவனே தலைசிறந்தவன். துறவுக்கு உண்மையான பெருமை தருவது உயிர்களிடம் காட்டும் இரக்கமே என்பது கருத்து.
