Kural 370

Thirukkural 370: ஆரா இயற்கை அவாநீப்பின் அந்நிலையே – Meaning in English (Curbing of Desire)

Kural 370

Aaraa Iyarkai Avaaneeppin Annilaiye
Peraa Iyarkai Tharum

Meaning
Desire by its nature can never be satisfied; give it up, and at that very moment you gain a state of being that never changes.

Meaning (W.H. Drew & John Lazarus)
The removal of desire, whose nature it is never to be satisfied, will immediately confer a nature that can never be changed.
Translation (G.U. Pope)
Drive from thy soul desire insatiate; Straight'way is gained the moveless blissful state.
