Thirukkural 565: அருஞ்செவ்வி இன்னா முகத்தான் பெருஞ்செல்வம் – Meaning in English (Absence of Terrorism)

Kural 565

Arunjevvi Innaa Mukaththaan Perunjelvam
Peeykan Tannadhu Utaiththu

Meaning
A ruler who is hard to meet and wears a grim face holds great wealth that is like treasure guarded by a demon: no one gains anything from it.
Classic translations
Meaning (W.H. Drew & John Lazarus)

Translation (G.U. Pope)
Whom subjects scarce may see, of harsh forbidding countenance; His ample wealth shall waste, blasted by demon's glance.
