- Building up wealth through deceit and hoping to stay secure by it is like pouring water into an unbaked clay pot and expecting it to hold: both the pot and the water are lost.

- வஞ்சகத்தால் பொருள் சேர்த்து அதைக்கொண்டு தம்மைக் காத்துக்கொள்ள நினைப்பது, சுடாத பச்சை மண்பானையில் நீரை ஊற்றி வைத்திருப்பது போன்றது. "சலம்" என்பது வஞ்சகம்; "ஏமார்த்தல்" என்பது காத்தல். பச்சைப் பானை நீரில் கரைந்து நீரும் பானையும் ஒருசேர அழிவதைப் போல, தீய வழிச் செல்வமும் அதைச் சேர்த்தவரும் சேர்ந்தே அழிவர்.
