- உள்ளத்தில் அன்பு இல்லாதவனின் வாழ்க்கை, கடினமான வறண்ட நிலத்தில் நிற்கும் காய்ந்த மரம் தளிர்ப்பதைப் போன்றது. அப்படிப்பட்ட மரம் ஒருபோதும் தளிர்க்காது; அதுபோல அன்பில்லாதவனின் வாழ்க்கையும் செழிக்காது. 'வன்பால்' என்பது வறண்ட கடின நிலம்; 'வற்றல் மரம்' என்பது காய்ந்து போன மரம்; 'அற்று' என்றால் அதைப் போன்றது.
