- பழைமை என்பது நீண்ட காலமாகத் தொடரும் நட்பு. அந்த நெருக்கத்தின் உரிமையால் நண்பர் எதைச் செய்தாலும், அதைச் சிறிதும் குறைவாக எண்ணாமலும் தடுக்காமலும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்வதே பழைமையான நட்பு என்கிறார் வள்ளுவர். 'கிழமை' என்பது நட்பால் வரும் உரிமை. உண்மையான பழைய நண்பர்கள் ஒருவர் மற்றவரின் உரிமையான செயல்களுக்காக முகம் சுளிப்பதில்லை.
