- இனிய சொல் என்பது எது என்பதை இக்குறள் விளக்குகிறது. ஈரம் என்பது இங்கு நெஞ்சில் ஊறும் அன்பைக் குறிக்கிறது; அளைஇ என்றால் கலந்து; படிறு என்றால் வஞ்சகம்; செம்பொருள் என்பது அறத்தின் உண்மை. அந்த உண்மையை உணர்ந்த நல்லோர் பேசும், அன்பு கலந்த, வஞ்சகம் இல்லாத சொற்களே இன்சொல். கேட்க இனிமையாக இருந்தால் மட்டும் போதாது; உள்ளத்தில் அன்பும் நேர்மையும் இருக்க வேண்டும்.
