Each scale is balanced: both sides weigh the same. Use the first scale to say what the middle item is worth in the smallest item, then the next scale for the biggest. The last scale asks how many of the smallest item balance it.

How do I solve a balance puzzle?
Write each item in terms of the smallest one. If three apples balance a pineapple, a pineapple is three apples; then swap pineapples for apples in the next scale, and so on, until the last scale is all apples.
