Aadukalam Naren, born on September 3, 1964, in Karaikudi, Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu, is a veteran Tamil film actor known for his compelling character performances and supporting roles. He has appeared in over 100 films and is one of the most dependable character actors in contemporary Tamil cinema.
Naren made his acting debut with “Neram Nalla Neram” (1995) and steadily built his career through consistent performances in Tamil films. He earned the prefix “Aadukalam” after his impactful performance in the Vetrimaaran-directed film “Aadukalam” (2011) starring Dhanush, which won the National Film Award for Best Film.
His notable filmography includes critically acclaimed films like “Anegan” (2015) directed by K.V. Anand, “Kabali” (2016) with Rajinikanth, “Theri” (2016) with Vijay, “Chekka Chivantha Vaanam” (2018) directed by Mani Ratnam, and “Ponniyin Selvan” (2022).
