Biography
Rakshita, known professionally as Anandhi, born on December 9, 1992, in Warangal, Telangana, is a Tamil actress who gained fame with her stunning debut performance. She appeared in Vetrimaaran’s Tamil production “Poriyaalan” (2014) before her breakthrough role in Prabhu Solomon’s “Kayal” (2014), set against the backdrop of the 2004 tsunami. Director Solomon renamed her from Rakshita to Anandhi for the film, and she won the Special Prize at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, earning the popular moniker “Kayal Anandhi.”
Following her impressive debut, Anandhi appeared in several Tamil films including “Chandi Veeran” (2015), “Trisha Illana Nayanthara” (2015), “Enakku Innoru Per Irukku” (2016), and “Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru” (2016). Her most acclaimed performance came in Mari Selvaraj’s powerful debut film “Pariyerum Perumal” (2018), a drama addressing caste discrimination, for which she won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress.
She has also worked in Telugu cinema, appearing in films like “Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo” (2020). She married marine engineer turned assistant director Socrates in January 2021. Known for her expressive eyes, natural acting style, and ability to portray characters with emotional depth, Anandhi remains a respected actress in South Indian cinema.
