Biography
Anirudh Ravichander, born on October 16, 1990, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is one of the most popular and prolific music composers in contemporary Indian cinema. The son of actor Ravi Raghavendra and nephew of superstar Rajinikanth, Anirudh burst onto the music scene at just 21 years of age.
Anirudh became an overnight sensation when “Why This Kolaveri Di” from the film “3” (2012), directed by Aishwarya Dhanush, went massively viral and became one of the most-viewed Indian songs on YouTube. He quickly followed up with hit albums for “Ethir Neechal” (2013), “Velaiyilla Pattathari” (2014), and “Kaththi” (2014). His music for “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” (2015) and “Maari” (2015) further cemented his position.
In recent years, Anirudh has become the go-to composer for India’s biggest films, delivering chart-topping music for “Master” (2021), “Vikram” (2022), “Jailer” (2023), and “Leo” (2023). His work in Telugu blockbusters has expanded his fanbase nationwide. Known for his high-energy live concerts, catchy hooks, and ability to blend contemporary sounds with Tamil musical sensibilities, Anirudh has won multiple Filmfare and SIIMA awards and is widely regarded as the defining voice of modern Tamil film music.
