Biography
Aparna Balamurali, born on September 11, 1995, in Thrissur, Kerala, is an acclaimed Indian actress and singer who has delivered powerful performances in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema. A trained Carnatic vocalist, she brings a rare combination of musical talent and acting prowess to her work.
Aparna made her acting debut in the Malayalam comedy “Maheshinte Prathikaaram” (2016) directed by Dileesh Pothan, which was a critical and commercial hit. She gained wider recognition in Tamil cinema with “Sarvam Thaala Mayam” (2019) directed by Rajiv Menon, where she played a music student alongside G.V. Prakash Kumar.
Her career-defining role came in “Soorarai Pottru” (2020), starring alongside Suriya in the film inspired by Captain Gopinath’s autobiography. Her portrayal of Bommi, a strong and supportive wife, earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress - a remarkable achievement that established her as one of South Indian cinema’s finest talents. She also sang in the film’s soundtrack.
More recently, she starred in Vetrimaaran’s “Viduthalai Part 1” (2023) and delivered another powerful performance.
