Biography

Srinivasa Sarja, popularly known as “Action King” Arjun, is an Indian actor, director, and producer born on August 15, 1962. He is the son of well-known Kannada actor Shakti Prasad and Lakshmi, an art teacher. Inspired by Bruce Lee’s “Enter the Dragon” (1973), Arjun began training in Karate at the age of 16 and went on to earn a black belt, which laid the foundation for his trademark action-packed performances.

Arjun made his acting debut in the Kannada film “Simhada Mari Sainya” (1981) before entering Tamil cinema with “Nandri” (1984), directed by Rama Narayanan. His breakthrough came with S. Shankar’s directorial debut “Gentleman” (1993), which earned him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor. He further cemented his stardom with blockbusters like “Jai Hind” (1994), “Karnaa” (1995), “Mudhalvan” (1999), and “Ezhumalai” (2002).

Over a career spanning more than four decades, Arjun has acted in over 160 films and directed 12 films across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages. He has produced and distributed numerous films as well. Known for performing his own stunts without body doubles, his daring action sequences earned him the iconic title “Action King” from fans and the industry alike.

Arjun married Niveditha in 1988, a former actress from Kannada cinema. Their daughter Aishwarya Arjun followed in her father’s footsteps as an actress in Tamil films. He continues to be an active and highly respected figure in South Indian cinema.
