Biography
G.V. Prakash Kumar, born on June 13, 1987, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is a talented Indian music composer, singer, and actor who has carved a distinctive niche in Tamil cinema. He is the nephew of legendary composer A.R. Rahman and showed musical talent from a very young age, performing on stage as a child.
G.V. Prakash made his debut as a music composer with “Veyil” (2006) directed by Vasanthabalan, which won him critical acclaim. He went on to compose hit soundtracks for films including “Aayirathil Oruvan” (2010), “Darling” (2015), “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” (2015), “Trisha Illana Nayanthara” (2015), and “Sarvam Thaala Mayam” (2019). His music blends contemporary beats with soulful melodies, earning him a dedicated fan following.
In 2015, G.V. Prakash transitioned to acting with “Darling” and has since appeared in numerous films including “Bruce Lee” (2017), “Kuppathu Raja” (2019), “Bachelor” (2021), and “Jail” (2021). His dual career as both a composer and actor makes him a unique talent in Tamil cinema. He was previously married to playback singer Saindhavi, with whom he has a daughter. G.V. Prakash has won the Vijay Award for Best Music Director and continues to be a prominent creative force in the Tamil film industry.
