Biography
Hansika Motwani, born on August 9, 1991, in Mumbai to a Sindhi family, is an Indian actress who has built a prolific career predominantly in Tamil and Telugu cinema. Her father Pradeep Motwani is a businessman and her mother Mona Motwani is a dermatologist.
Hansika began her career as a child artist, most notably appearing alongside Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta in the sci-fi blockbuster “Koi… Mil Gaya” (2003). After transitioning to lead roles in Telugu cinema with films like “Desamuduru” (2007) and “Kantri” (2008), she entered Tamil cinema with “Mappillai” (2011) opposite Dhanush.
She quickly established herself as one of Tamil cinema’s leading actresses through a string of commercially successful films including “Engeyum Kadhal” (2011), “Velayudham” (2011) with Vijay, “Oru Kal Oru Kannadi” (2012), “Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru” (2013), “Singam II” (2013) with Suriya, and the horror hit “Aranmanai” (2014). Her consistent box office track record made her one of the most bankable heroines in Kollywood during the 2010s.
For her 50th film, Hansika starred in “Maha” (2022), a milestone in her career. She married her longtime boyfriend, businessman Sohail Khaturiya, on December 4, 2022, in a grand ceremony at Mundota Fort and Palace, Jaipur. She continues to be active in both Tamil and Telugu film industries.
