Biography
Harish Raghavendra, born on January 7, 1976, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is one of the most popular and celebrated male playback singers in Tamil cinema. Known for his smooth, melodious voice and his ability to convey romantic emotion through his singing, he has been a defining voice of Tamil cinema’s romantic songs from the late 1990s through the 2000s.
Harish Raghavendra is the son of veteran singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam’s protege and began his singing career in 1999. He gained instant fame with the song “Suttum Vizhi” from “Ghajini” (2005) composed by Harris Jayaraj, which became a massive hit. Other iconic songs include “Enna Solla Pogirai” from “Kandukondain Kandukondain” (2000), “Unnai Paartha Pinbu Naan” from “Kaadhal Kondein” (2003), and “Snehithane” from “Alaipayuthey” (2000).
He has extensively collaborated with top music directors including A.R. Rahman, Harris Jayaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja, and Vidyasagar. Harish Raghavendra has won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer and the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer - Tamil. His voice has become synonymous with Tamil romantic music, and his songs continue to be widely popular. He also performs at live concerts worldwide.
