Biography

Jayaram, born Jayaram Subramaniam on December 10, 1965, in Perumbavoor, Kerala, is a highly popular Indian actor who primarily works in Malayalam cinema and has made notable appearances in Tamil films. He is one of Malayalam cinema’s most successful and beloved actors with a career spanning over three decades and more than 200 films.

Jayaram made his acting debut in the Malayalam film “Aparan” (1988) directed by P. Padmarajan. He quickly rose to stardom with a string of commercial and critical successes including “Dasharatham” (1989), “Sandhesam” (1991), “Meleparambil Aanveedu” (1993), and “Azhakiya Ravanan” (1996). His natural acting style and boy-next-door charm made him one of the most relatable stars in Malayalam cinema.

In Tamil cinema, Jayaram has appeared in several notable films including “Roja Kootam” (2002), “M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi” (2004), and “Vaagai Sooda Vaa” (2011). He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor twice and the National Film Award for Best Actor for “Kalyana Sougandhikam” (1996). Jayaram is also known for his mimicry skills and comedy timing. He is married to actress Parvathy, and their son Kalidas Jayaram is also an actor in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema.
