Biography
Nayanthara, born Diana Mariam Kurian on November 18, 1984, in Bangalore, Karnataka, is one of the most celebrated actresses in Indian cinema. Widely known as the “Lady Superstar”, she is one of the highest-paid actresses in India and has established herself as a leading figure in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema.
Nayanthara made her acting debut in the Malayalam film “Manassinakkare” (2003) alongside Jayaram. Her Tamil debut came with “Ayya” (2005), and she rose to stardom with “Chandramukhi” (2005) opposite Rajinikanth. She went on to deliver powerful performances in films like “Billa” (2007), “Yaaradi Nee Mohini” (2008), and “Aramm” (2017).
Her career reached new heights with blockbusters like “Viswasam” (2019) with Ajith, “Bigil” (2019) with Vijay, and “Annaatthe” (2021) with Rajinikanth. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress multiple times and received the Nandi Award for Special Jury. In 2022, Netflix released a documentary titled “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale” chronicling her life and career. She is married to filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, and the couple has twin sons born via surrogacy in 2022.
