Biography

Prabhas, born Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju on October 23, 1979, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is one of India’s biggest film stars, known primarily for his work in Telugu cinema. He is the nephew of veteran Telugu actor Uppalapati Krishnam Raju and grew up in a family with deep roots in the film industry.

Prabhas made his acting debut with “Eeswar” (2002) and gained popularity with Telugu hits like “Varsham” (2004), “Chatrapathi” (2005), and “Mirchi” (2013). However, it was his portrayal of the titular character in S.S. Rajamouli’s epic “Baahubali: The Beginning” (2015) and “Baahubali: The Conclusion” (2017) that catapulted him to pan-Indian and international stardom. The Baahubali franchise collectively grossed over Rs 2,500 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian film series ever.

The massive success of Baahubali made Prabhas a household name across India, transcending language barriers. He followed this with the big-budget multilingual films “Saaho” (2019), “Radhe Shyam” (2022), “Adipurush” (2023), and “Salaar” (2023). Known for his towering screen presence and dedication to his craft, Prabhas has won the Nandi Award, SIIMA Award, and Filmfare Award. He remains one of the most popular and commercially successful actors in Indian cinema.
