Biography
Prabhu Ganesan, born on March 17, 1964, in Madras (now Chennai), is a distinguished Tamil actor and the son of legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan. He made his acting debut with “Sangili” (1982) and quickly established himself as a leading man in Tamil cinema, carving out an identity distinct from his father’s towering legacy.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Prabhu was one of the most bankable stars in Tamil cinema, delivering hits like “Vetri Vizha” (1989) with Kamal Haasan, “Chinna Thambi” (1991), “My Dear Marthandan” (1990), and “Pudhiya Mugam” (1993). His portrayals of righteous, family-oriented characters resonated deeply with Tamil audiences. He has acted in over 230 films spanning Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.
Prabhu’s performances have earned him multiple accolades including the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for “Vetri Vizha”. His collaboration with director K. Balachander in “Duet” (1994) and his partnership with various leading directors produced some of Tamil cinema’s most memorable films.
