Biography
Prashanth Thyagarajan, born on April 8, 1973, in Madras (now Chennai), is a popular Tamil actor and the son of veteran actor-producer Thyagarajan. He made a spectacular debut with “Vaanmathi” (1996), directed by Agathiyan, which became a blockbuster and instantly established him as a leading star of Tamil cinema.
Prashanth delivered a string of commercially successful films including “Love Birds” (1996), “Jeans” (1998) directed by S. Shankar alongside Aishwarya Rai, “Kannedhirey Thondrinal” (1998), and “Parthen Rasithen” (2000). His charming looks, romantic appeal, and energetic screen presence made him one of the top heroes of the late 1990s and early 2000s. “Jeans” notably became one of the most expensive Indian films of its time.
His other notable films include “Winner” (2003), “Sachein” (2005), and “Andhagan” (2024), the Tamil remake of “Andhadhun” directed by Thiagarajan. Throughout his career, Prashanth has appeared in over 40 films and has been particularly known for his dancing skills and stylish persona.
Beyond acting, Prashanth has been involved in charitable activities and social causes. He has won the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Debut and has been nominated for several other awards.
