Preity Mukhundhan is an Indian actress, model, and trained Bharatanatyam dancer who has rapidly emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in South Indian cinema. Born on July 30, 2001 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu to doctor parents, she made her screen debut in 2024 and has already built an impressive filmography spanning Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi films.

Early Life and Education

Preity grew up in Trichy and attended Kamala Niketan Montessori School before pursuing higher education at the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy), where she earned a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. A passionate Bharatanatyam dancer since the age of 5, she has been a regular performing artist at Chennai’s Music and Dance seasons and is accomplished in hip-hop, cine folk, western, contemporary, and fusion dance forms. She began modelling in 2018 during her first year of college, eventually relocating to Chennai to pursue a career in film acting.

Film Career

Preity made her acting debut in the Telugu horror comedy Om Bheem Bush (2024), directed by Sriharsha Conjeeveram, playing the character Jalaja opposite Sree Vishnu. That same year, she starred as Meera Malarkodi in Star (2024), a Tamil coming-of-age romantic drama directed by Elan alongside Kavin. The film was a critical success and established Preity as a rising star in Tamil cinema.

Her career trajectory accelerated in 2025 with two major releases. She appeared in Kannappa, a multilingual mythological epic featuring an ensemble cast including Vishnu Manchu, Mohanlal, Prabhas, and Akshay Kumar. She also made her Malayalam debut in Sarvam Maya, which went on to earn over Rs. 76 crore at the box office, and appeared in Maine Pyar Kiya.

Breakthrough and Stardom (2026)

2026 proved to be Preity’s breakout year. She starred as Nila in the Tamil martial arts film Blast, directed by debutant Subash K. Raj alongside Arjun, which grossed over Rs. 53 crore. She then delivered a standout performance as Samantha in Idhayam Murali, a coming-of-age romantic drama with Atharvaa, where she played identical twin sisters Samantha and Samyuktha.

Music and Other Ventures

Beyond acting, Preity released her debut music album Muttu Mu2, featuring Teejay Arunasalam, Yogi B, Sivaangi Krish, and Vijay TV Pugazh, which garnered over 4.2 million views on YouTube.

Upcoming Projects

Preity’s upcoming slate includes Naagzilla, a Hindi fantasy creature comedy directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions, where she stars opposite Kartik Aaryan — marking her Hindi film debut. She also has the Telugu romantic drama Emo Emo Idi with Roshan Meka in the pipeline.

2025 ஆம் ஆண்டில் கண்ணப்பா, சர்வம் மாயா, மைனே ப்யார் கியா ஆகிய திரைப்படங்களில் நடித்தார். 2026 ஆம் ஆண்டில் பிளாஸ்ட் திரைப்படத்தில் நிலா என்ற பாத்திரத்திலும், இதயம் முரளி திரைப்படத்தில் சமந்தா / சம்யுக்தா என்ற இரட்டை வேடங்களிலும் நடித்து மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றியை பெற்றார்.

கார்த்திக் ஆர்யன் உடன் இணைந்து கரண் ஜோஹர் தயாரிப்பில் நாக்ஸில்லா என்ற இந்தி திரைப்படம் அவரின் அடுத்த பெரிய திட்டமாகும்.
