Saranya Ponvannan, born on September 1, 1971, in Kerala, is one of Tamil cinema’s most acclaimed and beloved character actresses, particularly renowned for her portrayals of motherly figures. She made her acting debut in the Malayalam film “Ganam” (1988) and entered Tamil cinema as a lead actress in films like “Pudhiya Paravai” (1987).
Her early career included roles as a heroine in Tamil films, but Saranya achieved her greatest recognition after transitioning to character roles, particularly as a mother.
