Shalini Ajith

Shalini, born on November 20, 1979, in Thiruvalla, Kerala, is a former Indian actress who is best known for her work as a child artist and later as a leading actress in Tamil and Malayalam cinema. She is the younger sister of actress Shamili and is married to Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar.

Shalini began her career as a child artist, gaining recognition with the acclaimed Malayalam film “Anjali” (1990) directed by Mani Ratnam, and “Ooha” (1990) in Telugu. As a child star, she appeared in several films and was known as “Baby Shalini”. She transitioned to adult roles with the Malayalam film “Aniyathipravu” (1997) opposite Kunchacko Boban, which was a blockbuster.

In Tamil cinema, Shalini delivered memorable performances in “Amarkalam” (1999) opposite Ajith, “Alaipayuthey” (2000) directed by Mani Ratnam opposite Madhavan which became a cult classic, and “Piriyadha Varam Vendum” (2001). Her natural, expressive acting and charming screen presence made her one of the most loved actresses of her era. She married Ajith Kumar in 2000 and gradually stepped away from acting to focus on family. The couple has two children, Anoushka and Aadvik. Though she retired early, Shalini’s filmography remains deeply cherished by Tamil cinema fans.
