Sujatha Mohan, born on October 31, 1963, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is a celebrated Indian playback singer who has been one of the most prominent female voices in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema. Known for her sweet, distinctive voice and her long-standing collaboration with A.R. Rahman, she has recorded thousands of songs across multiple languages.
Sujatha began her singing career in Malayalam cinema and quickly became the most sought-after female playback singer in that industry. She expanded to Tamil cinema, where her collaborations with A.R. Rahman produced some of the most iconic Tamil film songs. Her notable Tamil songs include “Kannalane” from “Bombay” (1995), “Vennilave” from “Minsara Kanavu” (1997), “Ennavale Adi Ennavale” from “Kadhalan” (1994), and “Konjum Mainakkale” from “Kandukondain Kandukondain” (2000).
