Biography

Trisha Krishnan, born on May 4, 1983, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is one of the most popular and enduring actresses in South Indian cinema. She won the Miss Madras contest in 1999 and the Miss India Beautiful Smile title, which opened the doors to her acting career.

Trisha made her acting debut with a brief appearance in “Jodi” (1999) before her breakthrough role in “Mounam Pesiyadhe” (2002). She became a leading star with consecutive hits like “Saamy” (2003), “Ghilli” (2004) opposite Vijay, and “Aaru” (2005) opposite Suriya. Her performance in “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa” (2010), directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, is considered one of her finest.

Over her career spanning more than two decades, Trisha has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada films. Notable recent performances include “96” (2018) opposite Vijay Sethupathi, which was a massive critical and commercial success, and “Ponniyin Selvan: I” (2022) and “Ponniyin Selvan: II” (2023) directed by Mani Ratnam, where she played the role of Kundavai. She has won three Filmfare Awards for Best Actress - Tamil and is also a Goodwill Ambassador for PETA India.
