Biography

Udhayanidhi Stalin, born on November 27, 1977, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is an Indian politician, film actor, and producer. He is the son of M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the grandson of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, making him a prominent figure in the Dravidian political dynasty.

Udhayanidhi established himself in the film industry as a producer through his company Red Giant Movies, which has produced and distributed numerous successful Tamil films including “Kutti Puli” (2013), “Manithan” (2016), and several others. He made his acting debut with “Oru Kal Oru Kannadi” (2012), which became a commercial hit. He followed this with films like “Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal” (2014), “Gethu” (2016), “Nimir” (2018), “Psycho” (2020) directed by Mysskin, and “Maamannan” (2023) directed by Mari Selvaraj.

In politics, Udhayanidhi is a member of the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) party and was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency in 2021. He currently serves as a Minister in the Tamil Nadu state cabinet. He has been actively involved in both the party’s youth wing activities and governance, balancing his dual careers in cinema and politics.
