Meesaya Murukku 2 is the sequel to Hip Hop Tamizha Adhi’s 2017 debut film Meesaya Murukku, which he wrote, directed, composed the music for, and starred in. The original was a semi-autobiographical musical romance that chronicled Adhi’s real-life journey from a college student passionate about music to becoming one of Tamil Nadu’s most popular independent music artists. It was a feel-good underdog story that connected with young audiences across the state.

The first Meesaya Murukku was notable for introducing Hip Hop Tamizha Adhi as a genuine triple-threat talent in Tamil cinema. As a musician, he had already built a massive following through viral Tamil hip-hop tracks.
