Ratsasan 2 is the sequel to the 2018 Tamil serial killer thriller Ratsasan, which is widely regarded as one of the finest thriller films in Indian cinema. Vishnu Vishal reprises his role as Arun Kumar, the aspiring filmmaker turned police officer, under the direction of Ram Kumar.

The original Ratsasan was a game-changer for Tamil cinema’s thriller genre. The film followed Arun Kumar as he tracked down a psychopathic serial killer targeting schoolgirls in Chennai. Its tightly woven plot, methodical investigation sequences, and genuinely chilling antagonist earned it cult status among Indian thriller fans. The film was later remade in multiple languages, including the Hindi version Cuttputlli.
