Vaadivaasal

Vaadivaasal is an upcoming Tamil film directed by Vetrimaaran, based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by C.S. Chellappa. The film stars Suriya in the lead role and marks the first collaboration between the actor and the National Award-winning director.

The story revolves around Jallikattu, the ancient Tamil bull-taming sport, and explores themes of courage, tradition, and rural identity. The novel, written in 1959, is considered a landmark work in Tamil literature and depicts the raw intensity of the sport through the eyes of a young bull tamer determined to prove himself in the vaadi vaasal — the narrow entrance through which bulls charge into the arena.

Vetrimaaran, known for his gritty realism in films like Asuran, Vada Chennai, and Viduthalai, is expected to bring an authentic portrayal of rural Tamil Nadu. Music is composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar, with cinematography by R. Velraj.
