- வறுமை என்பது ஒரு கொடிய தீயவனைப் போன்றது. அது ஒருவனிடம் வந்துவிட்டால், இந்தப் பிறவியில் கிடைக்கும் இன்பங்களையும் மறுமையில் கிடைக்கும் நன்மைகளையும் ஒருசேர இல்லாமல் செய்துவிடும். பொருள் இல்லாதவன் இன்று வாழ்வை அனுபவிக்க முடியாது; பிறருக்கு உதவி செய்து நற்பயனைத் தேடவும் முடியாது.
