- விளக்கம்
- சான்றோர் தேவையைச் சொன்ன அளவிலேயே உதவுவர். கீழ்மக்களோ கரும்பைப் போன்றவர்கள்; கரும்பை நசுக்கிப் பிழிந்தால்தான் சாறு கிடைக்கும், அதுபோல அவர்களை நெருக்கி வருத்தினால்தான் ஏதேனும் பயன் கிடைக்கும். இங்கு 'கொல்லுதல்' என்பது நசுக்கித் துன்புறுத்துதலைக் குறிக்கும். கேட்டவுடன் உதவும் மனமே உயர்ந்த மனம்.

- The noble give as soon as they are asked; the base, like sugarcane, yield something only when they are crushed and squeezed.
