- கண்ணை இமைத்தால் கண்ணுக்குள் இருக்கும் காதலர் மறைந்துவிடுவார் என்று அறிந்து, நான் இமைப்பதும் உறங்குவதும் இல்லை. ஆனால் இதைப் புரிந்துகொள்ளாத இந்த ஊர், நான் உறங்காமல் வாடுவதைக் கண்டு அவரை அன்பில்லாதவர் என்று பழிக்கிறது என்கிறாள் காதலி. 'ஏதிலர்' என்றால் அன்பற்ற அயலவர் என்று பொருள்.
