- மாலை போலத் தொடுத்த சிறிய வளையல்களை அணிந்த அவள், எனக்கு மடல் ஏறும் நிலையையும், மாலைப் பொழுதில் வாட்டும் துயரத்தையும் தந்துவிட்டாள் என்று தலைவன் கூறுகிறான். மாலை நேரம் காதலர்க்குப் பிரிவின் வலியை மிகுதியாக்கும் பொழுது என்பது பழந்தமிழ் மரபு. அவள்மேல் கொண்ட காதலே அவனை இந்த நிலைக்குத் தள்ளியது.
