- கடற்கரைத் தலைவன் என்னைப் பிரிந்ததை, என் முன்கையிலிருந்து நழுவிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் வளையல்கள் ஊருக்கெல்லாம் பறைசாற்றுகின்றன அல்லவா என்கிறாள் தலைவி. 'துறைவன்' என்பது கடல்துறைக்கு உரிய தலைவன்; 'இறை' என்பது மணிக்கட்டு. பிரிவுத் துயரால் உடல் மெலிந்ததால் வளையல்கள் தளர்ந்து கழல்கின்றன; அவள் சொல்லாமலேயே அவை அவள் நிலையைப் பிறருக்குக் காட்டிவிடுகின்றன.
