- தன்னிடம் உள்ள உணவைப் பிறருடன் பகிர்ந்து உண்பதை வழக்கமாகக் கொண்டவனைப் பசி என்னும் கொடிய நோய் எளிதில் தீண்டாது. 'பாத்தூண்' என்றால் பகுத்து உண்ணுதல்; 'மரீஇ' என்றால் பழகி. உடலைச் சுட்டெரிக்கும் பசியைத் தீயைப் போன்ற நோயாக வள்ளுவர் உருவகம் செய்கிறார்.
