- ஒருவர் வாழ்வில் பெறக்கூடிய நன்மைகள் பல உண்டு. அவற்றுள், அறிய வேண்டியவற்றை அறியும் அறிவுடைய பிள்ளைகளைப் பெறுவதைவிடச் சிறந்த பேறு வேறு எதையும் நாம் அறியவில்லை என்கிறார் வள்ளுவர். 'பேறு' என்பது ஒருவர் பெறும் நன்மை. பொருளும் புகழும் வந்து போகலாம்; அறிவுள்ள பிள்ளைகளே பெற்றோருக்கு நிலைத்த செல்வம்.
