- கேட்பவரின் தகுதியையும் சூழ்நிலையையும் காலத்தையும் நன்கு அறிந்து, அதற்கு ஏற்பச் சொற்களைப் பேச வேண்டும். அவ்வாறு பொருத்தமாகப் பேசுவதைவிடச் சிறந்த அறமும் இல்லை, சிறந்த செல்வமும் இல்லை. 'திறன் அறிந்து' என்பது யாரிடம், எப்போது, எப்படிப் பேசுவது என்பதைத் தெரிந்துகொள்வதாகும். பெரியவரிடமும் நண்பரிடமும் குழந்தையிடமும் ஒரே விதமாகப் பேசாமல் அவரவர்க்கு ஏற்பப் பேசுவதே நல்ல பேச்சு.
