- நண்பனுக்குக் கேடு தரும் செயல்களிலிருந்து அவனை விலக்கி, நல்ல வழியில் செலுத்துவதே நட்பின் கடமை. அதையும் மீறி அவனுக்கு அழிவு நேர்ந்தால், அந்தத் துன்பத்தில் தானும் பங்குகொண்டு வருந்துவதே உண்மையான நட்பு. நல்ல நண்பன் தடுப்பான், வழிகாட்டுவான், துன்பத்தில் உடன் நிற்பான்.

- Friendship keeps a friend away from what would ruin him, steers him onto the right path, and if ruin still comes, shares in his suffering.
